Speaker sensitivityFrom PYLO--(at)--su.edu Mon Jul 24 14:18:31 CDT 1995 From: PYLO--(at)--su.edu Newsgroups: alt.guitar.amps Subject: Re: Paul Rivera & Aspen Pittman 35 watts vs vntg 30's 85 w. Date: 23 Jul 1995 07:11:59 GMT Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit All you need to know is the sensitivity of the speakers in question, and the type of cabinet (open-back or closed-back), and you can compare at will. Celestions (at 100d--(at)--W/1M, as a hypothetical example) with a 30W amp will be about the same as EVM12Ls (assume 103d--(at)--W/1M) in a 15W amp, as the 3dB difference in speaker efficiency is equivalent to a doubling of power. You can play a loud rock gig with a Deluxe Reverb, if you have a really efficient speaker, like a Kendrick or EV. Conversely, you can crank a Pro with the Utah-brand Fender speakers and not be as loud as that same Deluxe..... Food for thought.... Dutch
