The numbers on some of those knobs are waterproof,
and some aren't. On the ones that are actually cut
down into the surface of the plastic, you can restore
them using this stuff called "Laquer-Stik." Camera
technicians use these crayon-looking thingies to
restore the paint (that has worn away from finger
acid) in engraved camera markings (on lenses,
adjustments, etc.) They come in a shitload of colors.
Probably someone who posts here knows which
camera NG the camera-fixin' dudes hang out on, and
you can post there for info on where to get 'em. I
have a few I bought 20 years ago, and I haven't used
'em up yet.
