Orange Drops are orange epoxy coated capacitors which may feature a number of dielectrics and construction techniques. They are available in metalized film, film and foil, polyester, polypropelene, some polystyrenes were made at one time. Orange drops are actually several lines of capacitors, but all orange colored. They will custom make them in small lots (as little as1000 units) to an amazing number of parameters. Sprague doesn't manufacture them either. The company is called SBE electronics. If you want complete info, it's on their website!! There are data sheets in PDF format too. http://www.to-be.com/sbe/index.htm The 715P line are most commonly used in tube audio applications. Available for cheap in most electronics supplier's catalogs. <<<< Many of the polypropylenes do have a 'PP' marking but some do not. I'm not aware of any polystyrene orange drops. Most styrenes are clear...you can see the foil inside. Unfortunately they do not like solvents, either. I saw a manufacturer float a bunch of boards with styrenes thru a trichlor (solvent) bath once! >>>>> -- Dr. Nuketopia Technology Director of the World-Wide Monetary Conspiracy All opinions strictly reflect the party line.
