To which, I rewrite the first 10 notes as:
4 3_ 3 4 5+ 6+ 6 7 8 8+ 9+
(using a different altered tab - all those b's and d's make my old eyes hurt. This tab is + = blow......no + = draw......../ = 0.5 step bend......._ = 1.0 step bend......\ = 1.5 step bend......o = overbend). Replace the first 4 with a 2 and viola!!
2 3_ 3 4 5+ 6+ 6 7 8 8+ 9+ The Cross Harp Pentatonic Scale. Always useful for runs and such. I actually was thinking of a good way to get some of this ingrained faster, and remembered the old "leap-frog" and "stepping-up" practices for the straight diatonic scale... 4+ 5+ 4 5 5+ 6+ 5 6 6+ 7 6 7+ , and 4+ 4 5+ 4+ 4 5+ 5 4 5+ 5 6+ 5+ 5 6+ 6 etc. I'm thinking doing these patterns with the pentatonic would be excellent practice also. You don't get the same "melodic" aural feedback that you get with the diatonic patterns, but it should be a good way to focus on the scale notes. These would be leap = 2 3 3_ 4 3 5+ 4 6+ 5+ 6 6+ 7 6 8 7 8+ 8 9+ 8+ 10 9+ step = 2 3_ 3 2 3_ 3 4 3_ 3 4 5+ 3 4 5+ 6+ 4 5+ 6+ 6 5+ 6+ 6 7 6+ etc Just a thought. Fred S
