John,

Charlie Musselwhite talks about overblowing on his
Web site in answering a question submited to him
back in '98... Here is, both the question and
Charlie's answer:

Q: Charlie, I've been trying and failing to get to
grips with overblowing (bending up on a blown note)
- - any tips, and do you use it as a technique?
Thanks, George Houston - 12/8/98

A: Winslow Yerxa has written about this technique
in his Harmonica Information Press magazine. I
haven't read everything on the subject, but his
explanation is very clear and thorough. I suggest
you start with a high pitched harp like an Eb or F.
I think the easiest overblow to learn would be on
the 6 hole. I've never recorded using this
technique. I'm still getting used to it. I'm sure
you'll hear me do it someday when it feels more
natural to me. Good luck, Charlie

P.S. I Don't have any idea what the other players
you mention think about this technique. Not sure if
Charlie's actually employed an OB in recordings
made subsequent to these comments
