Subject: Re: Re: Anyone tabbed the Norton Buffalo solo on Runaway?

I had the pleasure of attending a workshop
presented by Norton last year at the Yellow Pine
Harmonica Contest. When I asked later how he
held all four harps during the solo in question,
he answered that he didn't. He practiced
switching harps at high speed until he was happy
with the result. Armpits, shirt pockets, from
case to mouth, the guy can switch harps with
amazing speed.

For his free concert presented during the event,
he borrowed my keyboard, so he could play keys
with his right hand while playing harp and
holding the microphone with his left. Pretty
impressive stuff, but it gets better!

A few songs into the program, out comes the
chromatic and he's still standing in front of
the keys. I'm thinking, "Second position, no
button" and off he goes on the keys with his
right hand, holding the chromatic and the mic.
with his left. He gets going on this killer fast
swing tune and operates the button with his
right shoulder while playing keys!

A true master musician, entertainer, and nice
guy. I've never heard such great music from such
an eclectic mix of instruments. Harmonica and
Keys played by Norton, Fiddle, and Banjo
provided by a couple of great players he found
jamming at one of the campsites.

Regards,
Dennis Cooper
