Subject: Larry Adler-Pretentious?

Picture a harmonica gathering. Larry Adler is riding down in an elevator
with a "festival official". Only 2 other people in the elevator. A much
respected player says to Adler (who is visibly nervous about being in such
tight quarters with "other people"), something like "How ya doin Larry,
lookin forward to your show"

Adler says (while looking at festival official and NOT the querrying
player) "Can't I even ride a lift without being bothered?"

Picture Pittsburgh. After Adlers performance, a well respected harmonica
player sent a note backstage introducing himself (he had played with the
Harmonicats). Said he wanted to congratulate Larry. Adler's response was
"I don't know you - I don't have time".

Adler (at his age) said a LOT of things, (haven't we all). I wouldn't worry
about it TOO much. smokey-joe
