ok, it seems i finally ran across the only gibson amp page on the net i
hadn't read yet, and figured it all out. call off the dogs. yes, they're the
same amp, the only real difference (outside of tremolo) seems to be the
years of production and gibson's apparent yen for continuos cabinet
re-design.
thank you all for indulging me, and thanks especially to G for trying to
steer me off the path entirely.

feel free to go back to arguing about tab now... ;)
