Don't everyone faint at once, but - I agree with Glenn. Go with the
best instructor possible, even if you are a rank beginner.

Basically, the only way you "waste" anything with a good teacher is
if you don't practice. Then you waste his time and your money. Most
of us can use the bucks - but we'd ALL rather have students who'll
use up every bit of training and knowledge we can give.

A good versatile teacher is a good investment. While there are many
"right" ways to play, a good teacher won't limit you, and will take a
little time to explore the alternatives and find what works best for
you and your tastes. You'll learn it right the first time, rather
than learning compromised techniques that you'll need to correct
later.
