Hello Jon,

I won't repeat your post but I want you to know that I respect what
you said. Part of the confusion for me is the definition of "a
beginner". What I meant to write about was someone (in my terms a
beginner) who has decent basic skills but no real chops :-)

I remember when I started playing and I guess I had maybe two or so
years behind me--I couldn't find enough good harp players to copy so I
learned licks from Woody Herman, Pete Fountain, Alvin Lee, Jeff Beck,
Red Norvo, John McLaughlin (sp?)...all sorts of rock, jazz and so on
- --and these players were miles ahead of what I could do--but _parts_
of what they could do, I _could_ do...and I learned LOTS.

I think back and I would have loved to have had tab for stuff that,
for one example, _wasn't_ blues...stuff that had much more melodic
content.

That's why I see a value in tab for complex pieces far beyond the
usual beginner level. So the player at varying levels can pick and
choose and learn

Ron
