When I was playing Bass I learned to walk the changes to this tune. It is a
rough tune to learn not because of the changes (which are really quite
simple) but that you have something lik 16 bars of Dm7, then like 8 bars of
Ebm7, and also another 8 bars of Dm7, then back to the top. I may be wrong
on
this ,but its been a while. Its a great tune to play over and solo over. The
entire "Kind of Blue" album is a monument to simplicity and pure expression.
The ballads are exquisite, and much like Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf : the
sound remains contemporary. You gotta love music which doesn't become
dated!!

It's on the Kind Of Blue
album.  I have it on reel to reel tape, but

I'm positive it's also on vinyl, and it must be on CD by now.  The

head is done on bass.  The horns play chords, then solo.  As I

recall, it's D minor and Eb minor.

The "melody" is:

(R= rest) (all notes 8ths, with a swing feel)

R D1 A1 B1 C2 D2 E#2 C2 |

D2 A1 R R R R R R | R D1 A1 B1 C2 D2 E#2 C2 |

D2 R R R R R R R |  (repeat, then move it up a semitone)

(During the 6 R's, play chords Emi7 Dmi7, then up a semitone to Fmi7

Ebmi7)
