Subject: finding key

There are couple [keys]that get easy to recognize after a while [~E~ for the
~A~ harp, because it's pretty low I guess]. ~Bb~ and ~D~ seem somehow
recognizable- - -

But when I need to figure out the key, I do the same as you said. Either
blow a couple harps or I plunk the keyboard. If I'm not near a keyboard I
search out the ~root note~ on whatever harp I have. As this can be confusing
and irritating [~G~, ~B~, and ~D~, for instance all seeming to tell me,
~It's in D~ sometimes] I try to always have a ~C~ harp around, and use it
like a keyboard. I can't imagine anything easier or quicker- short of a
tuner [I've discovered that mine- KORG CA-20- when held up to the speaker,
will give the key- so long as you have the song playing during the Tonic,
mind you].
