I hear the differences too. I've reviewed my previous posts on this
issue, and I'm satisfied that I made it clear from the start that my
point is not that the Crate sounds exactly like any other amp, vintage
or otherwise. My point is simply that it's a very good-sounding amp,
and an expressive instrument that responds very well to the player's
changes in volume and tone.

Stephen Schneider's post noted that different amps have different
sounds, and he owns and uses multiple amps for that very reason. I tend
to use lots of stomp boxes and other signal processors to introduce
variations into my sound, but the intent is the same. A player should
sound the way that the player wants to sound. That's the only thing the
gear is for.
Thanks to Rick Beall for pointing to his clip. It's very useful indeed
to hear the differences for oneself.

Thanks, Richard Hunter
