I've recently fell in love with using the Audix D2 mic for micing my amps. Very small and a great sound, these also make great harp mics if you're going for a cleaner sound, great for jazz chromatic work. In positioning your mic to the cone the rule of thumb is closer to the center will give you more highs, to the edges more lows. I tend to keep it more towards the edge of the speaker.
