Subject: Playing on the side of your mouth

Ludo wrote:
"Back in 1988 I talked to Jerry Portnoy about this; he
says he used to TB EVERY bend, but after years decided
to play the upper register in pucker ..."

Glenn responds:
"In his Masterclass he said he switched to mixed
pucker/TB embouchure because he was developing some
sort muscle fatigue or strain on the right side of his

mouth."

Mike wonders:
Do you angle the harp significantly when tongue
blocking? Pucker/lipping? Do you point the harp at
your right ear or your left ear? Why? Do you find
that the angle enables/facilitates a tighter air seal
cup around the harp?

Thanks,
Mike Will
