you are correct to ask how i "know," and i don't actually, as i've never
measured a reed's thickness.
it has, however, been stated on this list that reeds for hohner's d harps
and
higher are thinner than that of lower keyed harps, and that accounts for the
somewhat thinner sound of those harps. it was my understanding that some
folks prefer to tune c harps up a whole step to avoid this, which is what
i'm
contemplating for both d and d-flat.
of course, i've been wrong before, so all apologies if i am this time...
