Subject: Brown Philco Mic

While in an antique store recently, I came across a brown Philco mic. The
mic looks very similar to an old Shure bullet. The grill appears to be
identical, from my recollection. The mic also has a short wood handle and
has a "Made in USA label" positioned in the same area they are attached on
Shures. The mic looks to be in perfect condition. I didn't buy the mic
because it is attached, hard wired, to a large, console style, Philco tube
radio/record player/recorder. Yes! recorder, or should I say record cutter?
The mic is attached to facilitate audio input for the record cutter. The
unit appears to have been made for consumer usage and is in incredible
condition.

I'm in a quandary as to weather to buy the unit and remove the mic or leave
the thing whole. Are any of you knowledgeable about these old record cutters
or the brown Philco bullet mic? I have the feeling that the mic may be worth
close to the asking price of the whole works. I appreciate the value of the
entire piece, but really do not have a place for it. Don't worry, I do know
a tube radio collector.

I am most interested in the mic. Does anyone have any idea exactly what I
may have discovered?

Thanks,
