Harvey Blackston, better known as Harmonica Fats, was born on this day in 1927. He teamed up with guitarist Bernie Pearl in 1986 and worked with pearl until his death two years ago.
Grateful Dead keyboard and harmonica player Ron "Pigpen" McKernan was born on this day in 1945. McKernan learned about the Blues from his father, a DJ in the San Francisco.
