Bearshare is known spyware, if you install everything that comes with it. You have the opportunity to opt out and not install the stuff with the spyware. I have no interest in whether anyone uses Bearshare or not, but I don't think it automatically installs any spyware without your knowledge. They ask for support to keep the product free.
Everyone should download a copy of ad aware, which is free, to check their windows system and see what spyware exists and eradicate it. Even if you're careful things still creep in there.
