Subject: Re: dummy question: bending

First, there are no dummy questions to harp-l, any and all questions are
good:)

"I can't make it steadily and easily to the in-between at hole 2 and 3. As I
remember that I saw some references teaching to say some words while breathe
in, like yee, .....uuuuuu for hole 4."

That can help at first, but it's just a tool for helping to find where the
bends are in your oral cavity (mouth/throat). What I'd do is try to slide
between the fully bent note (ie, the minor third bend on the 3draw or the
whole tone bend on the 2draw) and the unbent note as smoothly as
possible--ie, so that the pitch slides smoothly with no jumps or such in
between. Now, if you have a piano, tuner or some other means of getting a
reference pitch, play that pitch while you are sliding the bend. When the
bent note in the slide and the reference pitch are the same, try and hold
the bent note as long as you can.

All that said, I don't think I explain this sort of thing very well, but do
think others have explained it well on harp-l. So, I highly recomend
searching the archives for bending tips, as I think you'll find much better
help there.

Hope this helps.
