Maybe it was just my bad luck, but I burned up two 5V4 rectifiers (yep,
didn't get the message very well the first time) by putting them in with the
6L6 power tubes. Strange thing was, I was using the 5V4's in an amp with
6V6's and liked them there replacing a 5Y3. They were a real improvement
over the 5Y3 setup because they added more tight punch to the bass. Sounded
great in the 6L6 setup also. An amp tech will have the correct answers, but
my experience says to first check with them specifically for the amp you
want
to try it on. I know you did that with your amp tech so let me know how you
come out.
