Subject: Re: Do professionals read harp-l?

Not to name anyone who wants to remain quiet, but here are five
professionals who are known to read harp-l, or at least who have posted in
the near or recent past:

Douglas Tate
Richard Hunter
Robert Bonfiglio
Pat Missin
Annie Rainnes(sp--sorry, I really should know this one:)

Two of the premier classical harmonica players; two of the premier
all-around players (alternate tunings, jazz, folk...); and one of the best
blues players in the world. Not a bad grouping off the top of my head. And
these are just ones I know about from their recent postings--harp-l has far
more lurkers than posters (indeed, I would guess that the number of lurkers
is larger than the number of posters to a statistically significant degree).
Thus, I think it doesn't make sense to assume anything because someone does
not actively post--Toots could be reading this for all I know!

Moreover, professional status does not neccessarily indicate ability. Some
of the best harp-players I've heard also have steady jobs and thus are most
likely catagorized as semi-pros. And some of those also post to the list
(Winslow, Chris M, to name but two who have been very active lately). And
there are excellent players who just play for their own pleasure.
