Absolutely!
One thought, though ... once amplification of both voice and guitar became
common, wouldn't Sonny Boy 1 and others in his shoes have almost HAD to play
"electric" during club gigs? I mean at least before better vocal mics were
developed. I've tried blowing acoustic harp into a few different
bullet-style mics on stands and got very little volume – i.e. basically it
seems you almost have to cup them to be heard at all. I guess what I'm
saying is, I know John Lee Williamson never recorded amplified (at least I
don't think he did), but I'd be surprised if he never played that way in
clubs if only to be heard among the guitars. Eventually, of course, better
vocal mics came about and any harp blower who wanted to free up his hands
for wah wahs, etc. had the option of doing so. Rice Miller, for ex.
