Subject: Re: where does your music come from?

I have been rereading Zen Guitar by Philip Toshio Sudo. Great ideas. One
of
my favorite quotes is Luther Allison's "Lose your ego, play the music, love
the people".
Music playing for me and life in general is filled with ego and
psychological
confusion, but I know that much more time than I am aware of is spent just
being in the moment. I don't really try to get there, although I will
remind
myself of Luther's quote often before a gig, as well as pray to God to play
for me or through me. I just trust that throughout a night of music playing
I will lose myself in the music and get the zen thing going. If it doesn't
happen, I don't beat myself up and I don't really try and lose my ego when I
play. It just happens a lot.
