Subject: Help w/ Mike Steven's MP3s?

- --part1_c.181f9ebf.2878ab6d_boundary

Greetings,

I've really been into this Harp Player from Ontario named Mike Stevens. I'm
sure a lot of you are familiar with him. I was wondering if I could get
some
help on a bit of the tab (& key signatures) for a few of his MP3s and any
pertinent techniques I could utilize to accomplish what he's doing.

www.mp3.com/mikestevens

The First track is "Critical Speed." I see the harp taking 3 forms: the
initial main line, that little "wavering" move during the vocal, and the
"scale" breakdown. What is he doing in part one to get that really quick
clean percussive attack? I know it's timed perfectly to the drums and that
adds to the effect. Second, is that "waver" bent? And sliding betwixt
which
2 holes? And third, what's the tab on that scale?

The Second Track is "Gila Babi." Well, any help here really. Also, what is
that line he's borrowing from at the 4:35 mark? Sounds so
Chicago/Bell/Walter - I don't know, but it's so suddle and tasty!

My overall question is: what techniques do you think Mike really relies on
to
achieve his sound? Tongue blocking? Incredible talent, no doubt! I guess
I
need to get a Harmonica for Bluegrass book, of which I know he has one, but
I
heard it's fairly intermediate.

My quick take on the whole
Iron-AmazingMan-Mike/Intermediate-Walter-Stupidity/Ode-To...WhoCares : if
you
indulge mediocracy and futility then your part of the problem. An argument
dies as soon as someone walks away. There's a lot of BS on the net - the
best we can do is just sift through it and let the irrelevant topic matter
go
UN-REPLIED. thankyou, I'm done.

Hey! Thanx to anyone who can help with the Stevens stuff.
