Subject: Beginners interest: tuning/repairing

OK, the e-mail is finally fixed! And back to plain text!

Question---would be willing to take this off-line, unless you think other
novices might be interested.

I know how (in theory) to tune a harp---take apart, and _gently_ remove mass
from either the free or pegged end of the reed with a jewelers file. Don't
rush the process.

What if the problem is your 3-draw simply won't bend anymore? Do I try the
same method? OR, based on some of the theory I've heard, do I tune the blow
reed instead? (And if so, how?).

Or, is this one of those nasty cases where you guys recommend replacing the
whole reed. Frankly, I haven't even tried tuning yet. So I doubt if I have
the tools or dexterity to remove and replace a reed. Or at least, I'm going
to buy one of those Big Rivers I was asking about, before I take apart the
Huang or the Special 20! (My only two C harps--the Huang is now 2 years
old, and the Special 20 has got to be about 7.)
