Subject: Re: arab or persian harp8 #175

Ken asked about arab sounding harp - who is the guy you found??? Please
share! If you haven't heard Howard Levy play on the cd's "odd times" +
"sultan's picnic" by Rabih Abou-Khalil (enya records), you're in for a
grand surprise. Another more Indian sounding harper is Roland van Straaten
from Switzerland(though he overblows, he's not as great as howard-but then
who is...).If anyone know of more harpers in oriental or african, klezmer,
rembetika, venus-to-mars, eskimostyle harpin'...please let us know. Even
purist blues die-hards can sometimes pick up ideas from other music,
without turning their lifestyle to new age. Lazy Lew.
