Ahhh, the lessons of harp!

I went to an open mic session last night, with my
cheesy backpack full of harps and my "vintage"
(1995) 520D GB mic, and toting my trusty (1999)
Fender Blues Jr. The bearded harp-playing host of
the jam (who looked for the world like a ZZ Top
band member) had all his harps in a lovely hard
case and was playing through a chrome plated custom
mic and an ancient (1940s vintage) Gibson amp.
Another harp player in attendence had a vintage
tweed Maestro amp and his harps were displayed in a
gorgeous velvet-lined harp case. He was using a
very old looking Astatic JT-30 type mic.

After I played my set, ~both~ those guys were
crowding around me, all excited. Wow! You have a
great sound! What is that you're playin' through?
What kind of mic are you using? I just had to shake
my head and laugh inside as I told them what I was
using.

It ain't the amp, boys. 'Course I couldn't throw
that in their faces, seein' as they'd invested so
much in their rigs. Oh well.
