Recently, Mike Polesky posted a message with this note: > > Hi All, I am forwarding this from Siegfried while we sort out the > confusion with AOL.

I have a suspicion that AOL may have shut down its outgoing e-mail capabilities because of a true e-mail virus that cropped up just before the weekend. It's called the "Melissa" virus and one can read about its characteristics and mechanisms at various websites. Here are a few:
http://www.idg.net/ [Click on Subject: Massive e-mail virus outbreak spreads like wildfire]
And of course, the CIAC bulletin page: http://ciac.llnl.gov/ciac/bulletins/j-037.shtml
Be cool, fellow Harp-Lers... and consider this quote from the Computer Virus Myths website [http://kumite.com/myths/]..........
"April Fool's Day is right around the corner. Please remember to put fresh batteries in your clue meter..."
Hope y'all are back online with us soon... meantime, continue to let one of us forward your messages to the list... chances are you folks using MSN.com mailers may also be affected. Just a guess.
