Any amplifier is only going to reproduce what is fed into it. On the
electric guitar, a good player will first try a guitar UNamplified to
see its inherent acoustic properties, THEN see what the electronics
have to offer through an amp.

The harmonica player needn't think in any other way--if you can
produce a good sound, the amplifier will produce a similarly good
sound, given that the choice of mic, etc, are appropriate.
We cannot rely on the amplifier and mic to make up for a lack of
sensitivity or strength of will to get the best out of ourselves and
our equipment.

Best to all,

John
