Subject: amplified tone vs. playing technique

By the way, it strikes me that the harmonica is likely the only instrument where
many players literally devote more time to getting a decent amplified sound than
they do to learning the instrument itself!! A quick look at the ratio of
amp/tech postings to playing technique postings confirms this. If I could have
back all the (hundreds of) hours I've spent worrying about microphones, coaxing
good tones from my amp and adjusting the settings on the PA board, I might sound
a bit more like Howard Levy .....
