Subject: Re: More on Why Harp Players Seem Inferior To The Band

I wish to express my appreciation to the several kind H-Lers who were
generous enough to take time to remind me of the Coriolis force, named
for the French engineer and mathematician who first described it. This
refers to what appears to be the motion of an object in deviation from
it's intended path when occuring in reference to a rotating object, as
in the discussion of a flushed water closet, to which somehow the above
subject has been diverted, as if by this very force. That the direction
of an object is affected by it's own movement of the object, the rotation
of the earth, and the latitude, the water would swirl in opposite direc-
tions, depending on which side of the Equator the toilet's on. All but
one person chose to offer such information offlist, realizing it may have
been simply a forgetful oversight on my part. Thanks to all for the
reminder, and for a brief inspiration to seek more info on the phenomenon
and on Gustave-Gaspard Coriolis, sunspot movement, earth sciences, the
launching of space vehicles, as well as the Christoffel voltage compen-
sation in the area of electrodynamics. Lots of interesting stuff. And
even thanks to gentleman Tate, who sought to enlighten me as well, even
though he could seemingly not refrain from pointing out my need to
broaden my mind, and maybe even take a trip to Africa to find out where
that continent is on the world map and how toilets flush there. He wrote
therefore:

Perhaps one day I will find this path to enlightenment, if there's an
appreciative market for a harmonica I've demonstrated enough mind power
to help design. I do like to travel. I just can't drive to Africa! :)

Thanks for the giggles, folks!
