Subject: Vamping

I have a question re: tongue vamping, which is ,I believe the rapid-fire
movement of the tip of the tongue onto the harp. Is it primarily used for
emphasis on two adjacent notes such as the four-five draw or the four-five
blow or is it also used for single note punctuation also.
