I just played through a new fender pro-jr. It is a single 12" combo with a
very nice 30 watt tube amp. I have been looking over the schematic for a
week or so, and may integrate some of the elements into my next homebrew
amp. I think that the price is right in the ballpark, and it is pretty damn
loud. As an additional tack, look for a decent amp head, like a music man
or a sunn. Sometimes they can be had on the cheap and sound great through a
small pa or bass cabinet.

As for the guy at the music store.... maybe and maybe not. You are gonna
blow out harps anyway. What kind of band and playing space is common for
you. If you are paying clubs and trying to get over a guitarosaurus, good
luck, he'll probably just turn up more.

Lastly, here in CT we have a few shops that always have a supply of used
guitar amps, many of them are fab harp amps. Look for the smaller shops for
better deals. Also, look for the stuff that guitar players pass over like
Peavey, Music Man, and the like.

Good Luck,
