The Howard Levy wah wah sound that Winslow calls harp-in-a-cup works particularly well using a pint sized beer glass.
Jim McCarthy uses this effect to perfection on some down home blues tunes. He refers to this as playing his 'Mississippi Saxophone' through an 'Alabama Amplifier'. The pint glass and a tight (then loosened) hand seal make for a really expressive effect.
Jim will be in Rehobeth Beach Delaware this Friday at a really nice spot called Sydney's Side Street Cafe.
Jim is a 'U' blocker who learned the technique from Big Walter.
