Chuck who don' Puck'
Don't worry. Bending from a lip block is *easier* than bending from a pucker, and will give you better tone. (Alert, alert! I'm talking about someone learning to bend, not a seasoned veteran who can get great tone from any embouchure!)
I'd say bending from a tongue block is an advanced technique, so I'd recommend working with your lip blocking for bends. In my opinion, you may be better off *not* begin able to pucker! You won't be tempted to use your lips to bend (as we just heard from Jan!). And, as I've harped on for so long, the pucker players--I *think*--eventually shove the harmonica far enough into their mouth to actually be playing a lip block embouchure (or near variant) to get a single note.
So, work with your tongue, throat, and jaw to get your draw bends from a lip block embouchure. Don't even worry about puckering.
