Subject: Astatic mic results/New find

I recently mentioned on Harp-L that I found an old Astatic in my garage, but
got very weak response from it. Many of you gave me suggestions as to what
could've been wrong. I ordered an element and a new "special" cord. Well,
I put the cord on first and the mic works fine now, without the element
replacement. Live and learn.

Also in my garage, I just came upon an old (20 years?) Hohner 260 (ten-hole)
chromatic in the key of C. It doesn't sound bad, isn't rusted, and the
holes are not particularly blocked. What is the benefit of getting a 12
hole or more (except for a few extra notes)? I was going to get the Super
64 or the CX12 but I wonder if this chromatic will do. On the other hand, I
don't want to be too limited. Any comments?

Thanks again to all who so kindly take the time to supply information to
those of us with questions. It is gratefully appreciated!
