While I enjoy a good love fest, and am opposed to baseless flaming ("popper sucks" etc.), I think Harp-L is properly a forum for discussion of harmonica topics, and that includes criticism of players, books, harps, etc. I haven't noticed anyone rushing to defend Huang Harps against their portrayal as cheap harps.
Harp-L will serve the harmonica community best as an open forum for the discussion of all topics of interest to players. THAT'S the kind of support we should offer. Besides, do you really think Popper or Tesh are going to cry themselves to sleep tonight because Bear Bean, semi-pro player and freelance music writer doesn't like their music? They're probably about as upset as I am that they never come to my gigs.
