Having played both (and Huangs, Suzuki Promaster, etc.) for many years, I
buy only Oskars these days, unless I absolutely can't get one I really need,
or if I want to try a new harp I've never tried before (I'm always looking
for a bargain, or possibly something better, etc.). But I keep coming back
to Oskars. They're well built, and take all the abuse I can dish out. I go
through about ten MBs, Pro Harps, or Special 20s (not MS - originals) in the
same time one Oskar takes to wear out. Blues harps last me even less than
these others. But the original reason I switched to Oskars was the
playability. They play better than the above named Hohners.

The Oskar you want to replace your A blues harp is an A major diatonic.

Another nice thing about Oskars is the easily available replacement reed
plates. Farrells and Kevins has them, and if you bug your local harmonica
supplier, I'm sure they can stock them, too.

I also like the Oskar harmonica tool kit. It will pay for itself in short
order, plus your harp collection will always be in top form. The booklet it
comes with is very helpful. The tools themselves, while they look cheap,
have lasted me several years so far, and show no signs of wearing out (well,
other than scratches on the feeler gauge, but that's no big deal), so I'd
have to say they're adequate for the job. And the package is really handy.
My only gripe is the adhesive used on the Velcro fasteners. Apparently, it
doesn't like to be stored in a hot trunk.
