I use Marine Bands for blues(ever since Kim Field gave me crapola about my Melodies:]) Ever since Memphis I have developed an ear for MArine Bands and it is true(in my case) nothing beats the sound of a Marine Band for playing blues.

As far as playing other stuff(jazz, zouk, country, soul, funk....)I like the melodies the best. Smooth rich sound that's perfect for single note playing.

To me most MArine Bands out of the box suck. they're hard to bend and leak air, which is why I suppose I didn't like them to begin with. When ever I get a new marine band I always go through and seal the plate to the comb, re-tune and tweak the reeds for optimum performance.

Golden Melodies seem to work best right out of the box although I still go through them and optimize them. I feel harps last longer if put together right and I must say "ain't done right from the factory" so I just do it myself.
