Subject: Re: Tongue Blocking (N. Buffalo is a curled tonguer,nah-nah,
nah-nah)

Barry, Mike, Gary et al.,
The ability to curl the tongue into a u-shape is as correctly stated by Barry S. (aka FJM) genetically determined. Those that cannot do this are recessive for this particular gene, or in other words, they don't have 1 or 2 of the alleles necessary for this procedure. Curling is accomplished by circular muscles in the tongue and being recessive, they probably don't have
the required muscles for this trick. Actually, probably 85% of the population of people worldwide are recessive for this ability. BTW, I am dominant for this character, meaning I can curl my tongue, like most people. However, I can't play tongue block for the life of me, I'm purely a pucker player with hopefully some decent tone at time. Can't do the double pucker thang that Mike C. can either, but then I've got a day job (you've gotta show that off for me Mike!).
