  HP Multimedia Microphones - $1.89

I have finally put up a PayPal buy-it link for my HP Multimedia Microphones. It is at my AudioCD.com website.
These are good for recording your playing and the price is right. They are $1.89 shipped in the US.
I am trying to get Authors to record their stories, teachers to record their lessons and anyone else to record what they think might sell. I am about half way done producing a site where listeners can download MP3 files for their iPods. I am concentrating on Genre Fiction and Music Lessons.
  1962 Premier Amp Catalog
A reader, Robert Davis, has graciously sent me a copy of a 1962 Premier Amp Catalog that received when he bought his Model 120. It is a great read and has several amps that I have never seen in person. Great stuff. Look at the prices! These amps cost more than Fender amps.

  2006 Brookdale Guitar Show
Just a reminder that the 2006 Brookdale Guitar Show is coming up again on 2/19. I will be there and if anyone needs me to be a buying agent, they should let me know.
The way it works is, if you want a particular amp, I will check out the show for amps (or guitars, or mics or effects) and give you a call from my cell. If we agree that the deal sounds righteous, I'll buy the amp, then you send me the cash plus a 10% finders fee and actual shipping costs. (No credit cards or paypal. No overseas deals.)
Guitar shows are often much cheaper than eBay because the deal is in cash and the dealer doesn't have to pay ebay and paypal fees and doesn't have to ship.
I will be going to the Auburn, MA show in March and the Capital Region (Saratoga Springs, NY) in April. I might make it to the Oswego, NY show, but that is still tentative. (It's one hell of a hike for me.)

  Playing Single Notes
I put a short MP3 file (6:17) where I discuss Playing Clear Single Notes. If you can by the fact that I'm a much better teacher than I am a player, this might help a beginner get by this very important hump. Use a "C" harp to play along.

  Canadian Blogger refurbishes Tube Amp

Here's a cool proejct by Canadian JCayer, who has blogged the step by step rebuilding of a Riviera 725 tube amp head.

It's a good guide for anyone who wants to attempt this kind of thing.

Kim Wilson Playing Through a Premier 88
I got this email from Joakim Barcheus, a Swedish harp player.
If you want, you can take a peak at my home site and see some pictures on me and my premier amp in action.
If you are attentive, you can see Kim Wilson play through the same amp and I can tell you he enjoyed it.
I was hired in for the band that was going to be the opening act before the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and I tried to convince his manager to take my amp up on the stage instead of the Fender Blues Junior that they had hired for the occasion, but he didn't seem to like the idea. But after showing Kim the amp, Kim's response was: "What is that! I have never seen such a cool looking amp. I must play through that amp!"
The best thing of the whole evening was when he called me up on the stage to play with him and the Fabulous Thunderbirds, which was kind of nerve wracking, especially since he played so well I could not believe it.

  Vintage Series Effects
Carl Martin has announced a series of Vintage Series effects. I am interested in the Red Repeat, which sounds like it would be great for harp. Digital delay gets muddy real fast and replaces your tone with something less acceptable, especially on chromatic. An analog pedal does a better job and the Red Repeat sounds even better.
I have no idea where to find these, or I might be testing it out for you, right now.

  15th Annual Harmonica Blues Blowout
This is a cool page that has some sound clips and images from the 15th Annual Harmonica Blues Blowout. Don't know much about it except that I'm sorry that I missed it. (Page doesn't work in FireFox, so use IE).
  Musician Sues Self
Harp Player Little Annie Raines has a Blog that has some fun stuff. Here is an article about the guitarist Paul Rishell.
Musician Sues Self
My brother Larry and I went down to West Virginia about ten years ago for Blues Week. On the way down we saw a UFO and took some video. (You can see the ufo clip on my blog)
After taking a few lessons with Annie, I decided that she was mis-named. Instead of Little Annie Raines, she should be called Little Teenie-Tiny Annie Raines. I am six foot four and when standing next to her, she didn't make it up much higher than my belt.
I decided that Paul Rishell, after having a conversation with him, had arrived in one of the UFO's that Larry and I spotted. Very strange man... but a good guitar player.

  Chugging the Blues
I found an Instructional MP3 for playing Blues Harp Chugs for absolute beginners on how to "chug the blues". This is a useful little instruction on how someone who can't play the harp well can still sound good and jam along to a blues song. It's about 10 minutes long. Download this into your ipod and practice chugs when you have a minute.
  Pupils feel, play the blues
Here's a story out of Lima Ohio. A harp player named Geneva Red is teaching some classic blues harp in a middle school. Pupils feel, play the blues
Everybody is doing it. Here is a link to the Learning Proposal that I used when I taught a continuing education class at my local community college. By the way, they paid me $350 for six Saturdays of fun.
Now what's stopping you. Start now and you might be able to teach a few classes this spring. It's good for your ego and might get you a gig or too. By the way, it's good for your soul.

  Learning lessons from the blues
Dave Barrett and some friends are Teaching at a bay area school. Teaching harp is a great experience. You wind up learning as much about harp yourself as the students do. Solving beginners problems helps you think about your own musical development. I would highly recommend contacting your local school, community college or continuing education program about teaching a class or two.   Love Me Do riff
As long as we are doing non-blues stuff, here is some more blasphemy:

John Lennon's Love Me Do riff
Use a C harp, 2nd position, in key of G:

5D 5B 4D 3B 3B 3B
5D 5D 5D 5B 5B 5B 4D 3B 3B 3B
5D 5B 4D 3B 3B
3B 4B 3D 3B 3B 3B
3B 3B 3B 4B 3D

I found this on John Gindick's message board
  Popper tab
For those of you who shook you head at the previous post, here is some more heresy. This is the harp tab to Blues Traveller's Run-Around.
  Dylan Harp
Here's a site devoted to Dylan's harp playing. I don't want to be negative, but I am not sure if this is a good thing. I get more questions about Dylan than any other harp player. Number 2 is Lennon, and number 3 is Popper. This is a sad comment on the state of the world.
However, this page answers all the questions about what kind of harp Dylan played and even has some tab.
I like Dylan quite a bit, but I try not to listen to the harp solos.
